Bulose lung disease
Airway fistulas
Pneumothorax
Severe shock or hypotension
CPAP can cause a few adverse effects, but most of these are transient or avoidable. They are dryness of the nasal mucosa (which can be prevented by a humidifier), discomfort (which can be prevented by choosing a piece of more comfortable equipment), dry eyes (which can be avoided with a more comfortable mask), pressure injuries in the place where the mask is supported (which can be avoided with a more comfortable mask). As with any electrical device, care should be taken to prevent the risk of electrocution.
